CPN Special Interest Groups

While all CPN members obviously share an interest in polyamory, within that broad field there are a number of separate areas of interest/commonality. Special Interest Groups, or SIGs, are intended to meet the needs of CPN members to explore polyamory and share experiences with persons having other common interests or characteristics.

SIGs can be created by any group of CPN members with a common polyamory-related interest, simply by requesting recognition from the CPN Board. Once a SIG is approved, it operates fairly autonomously under the CPN umbrella, setting up its own meetings and activities, acting in coordination with the CPN Programs Chair. Each SIG must have a coordinator, who is approved by the Board and who is responsible for the SIG's activities. SIGs are intended to be ongoing until member interest ceases, and generally to meet according to regular, pre-announced schedules.

The following SIGs have already been organized and are operating within CPN:

CPN Women's SIG

The CPN Women's SIG is designed to offer a safe environment in which women can relate to, address issues with, and enjoy the support of, other women interested in, or engaged in, a polyamorous lifestyle. This SIG generally alternates between the 3rd Saturday and 3rd Sunday afternoon of each month, in a private home, though it has also organized group outings. CPN Bi-Poly SIG

Obviously, many persons who identify themselves as bisexual find the openness of polyamory appealing. CPN's Bisexuals' SIG operates as a social and support group for bisexuals with an interest in living a polyamorous lifestyle. The SIG also serves as CPN's point of liaison with bisexual-oriented organizations in CPN's service area, such as the Bisexual Network of DC and Bi-Insurgence. This SIG generally meets on the fourth Sunday evening of each month. For more information, contact Marly at marly_harley@yahoo.com
This SIG is on hiatus while a new coordinator is found.

There are several other SIG concepts actively under consideration at this time, including Poly Parents, Next Generation Polys (18-35 year-olds), Spirituality, Tantra, and Nudism/Naturism. Any other ideas, and volunteers to lead/organize/facilitate, are always welcome.
